The base decides how it looks in year three
Turf that ripples, sinks at the edges or holds water was almost always installed over a base that was not excavated deep enough or compacted properly. We dig out the old sod, lay and compact the aggregate base in lifts, then seam, nail and infill on top of ground that will not move.
Where it earns its keep in Houston
The best candidates here are the places real grass fights and loses: the shaded strip down the side of the house, the ring around a pool where chlorine and traffic kill sod, and the pet run that turns to mud every spring. Those are the areas where turf stops being a compromise and starts being the better surface.

Does it get hot in the Texas sun?
Yes, synthetic turf runs hotter than live grass in direct sun. In full-sun areas we will say so up front and talk through infill options, shade and whether a different surface serves you better in that spot.
What about dogs?
Turf works well for pets, but only over a drainage base built for it. Rinsing is the whole maintenance routine, and there is no mud tracked back into the house.
How long does an install take?
A typical residential yard runs a few days, most of it spent on excavation and base preparation. Laying the turf itself is the fast part.
